There’s only one Son of God…and you ain’t Him. Neither is your spouse. Nor, your friends, coworkers, cabbie or phone service rep. I’m certainly no saint.
Now that we have that squared away, can you just please be real with me and others? Don’t inflate the numbers, don’t hold back tears, drive only what you can afford, stop saying “yes” when you’re dying to say “no”. Faking it is exhausting. I like you…not an image of you. Can you improve? Sure. At the expense of being disingenuous? Please don’t.
If we withhold grace from others and ourselves, the result is isolation and hiding. When we forgive others and ourselves, the result is the freedom to try again. (140 words)

BONUS: A close friend of mine, Tyler Loomis, started Citybrook Church in Milwaukee. A motto of theirs is, “Guaranteed to Disappoint”. What? Who’d go to a church knowing full-well you’ll be disappointed sometimes? Um, me.
